|Thoughts on Words
|I am reminded of little children today.
They make so many little sounds.
Like scribbling on paper, they are sharing their inner world with us.
Eventually those sounds become words.
I remember the first time I heard "Dada"......
I never was the same after that.
A word is like a seed.
The letters form the outside shell.
The life of the word is within.
Some words are hard to crack.
Some words need the patient care of the gardener.
Waiting in the ground for the warmth of the sun
and the rain from the clouds,
the inner life stirs.
Each word comes to life as it breaks through its shell.
It buries its tap root into our heart
and sends its shoot forward towards the light.
Eventually, in time, it yields its fruit.
And we get our first taste.
Many of the words that we use to find fault with others
are buried under our own skin.
Other people are meant to be mirrors so we
can see our true selves.
Words can easily come back to haunt us...
God is writing His words within our hearts.
What type of soil rests around those seeds?
Some words never see the light of day.
They remain buried in the darkness---
...to become flowers in our garden.
Or, great, mighty, oaks.
A word becomes living....
conceived when desire and nurturing meet...
like sperm and egg.
Quietly, it rests in a darkened womb.
a new, beating heart longing to be known...
awaiting its travailing journey
The Holy Spirit breathes on a word.
Once we have found the "soul" of word,
there is love.
