Burst of Spring
April
                                       The breezes of spring usher
                                               in a turning point of our journey.
                                      The thaw has begun.  The days grow longer.
                                     Great thunderous storms sweep through and
                                    rains wash away the gathered debris of winter.
                                   Rising temperatures begin the transformation
                                   from ice and snow melting into water;
                                         drips, trickles, puddles, streams, rivers…
                          all flowing to the sea.

Blossoms appear on the trees,
the robin is building her nest,
the bear awakes from hibernation,
and billowy clouds rush above the greening trees.
A sense of hope grows.
The miracle of rebirth marks the arrival of spring.
It is a time of ascending.

We are being released from the darkness
and interiority of winter and
led into the bright and extroverted light of spring.
The season puts a smile on our face,
a lilt to our step, and new sounds in our ears.
The gift of water is everywhere.

Lakes and marshes are teaming with life.
In the desert water is scarce and every drop is precious.
                      The desert floor becomes
                             a colorful garden of blooming, fragrant flowers.
                              The season of spring waters
                                the thirsty land and warms the fertile soil.

We turn our focus to gardening,
buying seeds, cultivating the ground,
visiting green houses…dreaming of new growth
and participating in the mystery of life.

In Psalm 34:1-3,6, 8 we read,
“I will extol the Lord at all times;
His praise will always be on my lips.
My soul will boast in the Lord;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together.
This poor man called, and the Lord heard him;
He saved him out of all his troubles.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.”.

The movement of grace in our lives
releases deep worship and praise.
The sense of the Lord’s presence is easily felt each day.
Life is everywhere, fresh, and colorful.
We are struck with awe at the generosity of God!
He always gives over and above what we expect.

Springtime for the soul is
a season of warming new desires
and being pregnant with passion, vitality, and hope.
Waterways are opened to pour into new channels of discovery.

We navigate the streams that flow.
New fountains appear.  Energy is  abundant!
We are amazed at the depth and power of our feelings.
Life is bursting upon us!

The container that held our creativity is overflowing.
We experience growth pangs as our world enlarges.
We feel as though we are flowing in an anointing;
being carried and not knowing
the destination of the new life within us.

Grace is so powerful!
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son,
who came from the Father,
full of grace and truth.
From the fullness of His grace
we have all received one blessing after another” (John 1:14, 16).
May the abundant grace of God dwell within you!
